MAY 7, 2021 – HAMILTON: Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ontario and Canadian governments, launched the COVID-19 Rapid Screening Initiative. Through this initiative, test kits will be distributed through participating local chambers of commerce and boards of trade in Ontario – including the Hamilton Chamber – to small- to medium-sized employers (SMEs).

APRIL 29, 2021 – HAMILTON, ON: New analysis from the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce – funded by The Atmospheric Fund and developed in cooperation with local heavy industry, the City of Hamilton, and other stakeholders – shows the feasibility of using waste heat from the Bayfront Area, including the potential for a district energy system to serve the heating and cooling needs of adjacent buildings.

On Monday, April 19 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, released Budget 2021: A Recovery Plan for Jobs, Growth, and Resilience, the Government of Canada’s plan to finish the fight against COVID-19 and ensure a robust economic recovery that brings all Canadians along.
The COVID-19 recession is the steepest and fastest economic contraction since the Great Depression.

On March 24, the Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board, Peter Bethlenfalvy, released Ontario’s Action Plan: Protecting People’s Health and Our Economy. The 2021 Budget is the next phase of Ontario’s response to COVID-19 and is the second Budget the government has delivered during the pandemic.
The 2021 Budget builds on the government’s record investments in response to the global pandemic, bringing total investments to $16.3 billion to protect people’s health and $23.3 billion to protect our economy.

March 22, 2021 – HAMILTON, ON: The Ontario Vaccination Support Council (OVSC) launched an online portal to connect Ontario’s public health units with private sector organizations offering local support.
The portal will allow for two-way communication between the private sector and public local health units so that organizations can volunteer time or resources to support the province’s vaccination efforts.

February 9, 2021 – HAMILTON, ON: The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce welcomes today’s commitment by the province to work with the federal government to fund the B-Line LRT project in Hamilton, following last year’s advice from the Hamilton Transportation Task Force (HTTF) to invest in higher-order, intra-city transit in the City of Hamilton.
