February 24, 2021 – HAMILTON, ON: The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the call is now open for nominations for its annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) and Hamilton Citizen of the Year Award. The OBAA’s honour local businesses for their contributions to the Hamilton community in the previous year.

There are 9 categories to choose from, including the annual Hamilton Citizen of the Year nomination and a newcategory for this year’s awards – the COVID Champion: A business that has stepped up during the pandemic, retooled their operations to support the crisis, or assisted frontline or essential workers.
The categories are:
- Small Business (1-10 employees)
- Mid-Sized Business (10-50 employees)
- Large Business (50+ employees)
- Young Entrepreneur (Under 40)
- Not-for Profit
- Century
- Accessibility
- *NEW* COVID Champion
- Hamilton Citizen of the Year
The Hamilton Chamber has moved the entire application process online. Visit obaahcc.ca to nominate a business for an award, or to self-nominate your business.
Applications close Friday, March 26 at 5pm.
Last year’s OBAA’s were hosted by Cable 14 and live-streamed, and the Chamber awarded the 2019 Hamilton Citizen of the Year Award to Demetrius Tsafaridis, the president and CEO of Hamilton-area technology business CareGo, for his philanthropic work.
The Chamber would like to thank community partners for their support in this event: RBC as the presenting sponsor, as well as Bell, City of Hamilton, Cogeco, and CN Rail.
