The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce represents our members and their collective interests on the City of Hamilton’s Open for Business Sub-Committee.

This sub-committee is tasked with reducing red tape and improving efficiency in municipal government.

We are pleased to see that further progress has been made in approval times within the Planning and Economic Development Department.

1. The average number of days it takes City staff to complete a Zoning Review for planning files has significantly decreased in the last year.

   

2. The percentage of building permit applications reviewed within 5 days of the statutory timeline remains high.

   

3. The City of Hamilton is in the process of drafting targets to meet efficiency standards for several permit and application reviews, as seen below.

   

 

The Chamber is encouraged by these improvements. We look forward to working further with the city to facilitate a constructive dialogue that addresses the concerns of our members and the wider business community.
