This Rapid Policy Update contains information about accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) that came into effect January 1, 2014. It also provides important details about new accessibility requirements that will come into effect on January 1, 2015.
Thanks to all who joined us on December 11th for our Joint Holiday Party with McMaster Innovation Park and Innovation Factory. The party was a great success, with 68 toys and $389.00 donated to the Children’s Aid Society.

According to the Canadian government, any email sent to/from a Canadian computer, mailbox or network falls under jurisdiction of CASL; but the legislation is specifically targeted at individuals or organizations attempting to generate commercial activity. The regulation will be one of the strictest anti-spam policies in the world and will likely significantly affect the communications efforts of businesses of all sizes.

Submissions are now closed for the 2014 LiON’S LAIR competition. Thank you to everyone who submitted a business plan for consideration.
Over the next few weeks our fantastic evaluators will be going through each submission and scoring them accordingly. From the applications received, ten finalists will be selected to pitch their idea to a panel of experts in a television studio environment.

Last night, the Hamilton Chamber held the 30th Annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards. The gala dinner, held at Carmen’s, was attended by over 350 guests. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce congratulates the following winners.
