On October 23, 2018, the Government of Ontario’s announced Bill 47, Making Ontario Open for Business Act, 2018. The announcement included a near full repeal of Bill 148, dissolution of the Ontario College of Trades, and improvements to the journeyperson-to-apprentice ratio.

Association – have joined together to publicly support the B-Line LRT project, which has
once again become a municipal election issue.

This sub-committee is tasked with reducing red tape and improving efficiency in municipal government.
We are pleased to see that significant progress has been made in approval times within the Planning and Economic Development Department.

Hamilton, ON, September 10th – The Hamilton and Thunder Bay Chambers of Commerce submitted a letter today to the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, asking the Federal Government to assume oversight of the Ontario Basic Income Pilot project.

As of Midnight, June 1st, 2018, President Donald Trump and the United States Government has applied a 25% Tariff on Canadian Steel and 10% on Canadian Aluminum. This tariff is an implementation of a section 232 investigation that was extensively covered in March 2018, with significant advocacy and negotiation efforts from the Chamber network, industries on both sides of the border and Canadian Government leading to a temporary exemption for Canada, European Union and other United States allies.

HAMILTON May 31, 2018: Excitement is building in the lead up to the inaugural Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit on June 26 from 8 am to 4 pm at Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton-Burlington.
This marquee leadership event is an initiative of Canada’s Innovation Corridor Business Council, a partnership of leading chambers of commerce and boards of trade located in Southern Ontario.

On June 7th, 2018, the Province of Ontario will head the Polling Stations to elect the next Provincial Government. In partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, it’s 135 local Chambers representing over 60,000 businesses, we have launched the “Vote Prosperity” platform to highlight key priorities for businesses. Our efforts began in October 2017, when representatives of the Ontario Chamber Network has been meeting with Party Leadership, elected officials at Queen’s Park and senior public policy leaders, to advocate for the recommendations for a strong Ontario outlined in our Vote Prosperity Platform.
