· by Marily Butkovic

Hamilton, ON, June, 9, 2014: Ontario’s three major political parties have officially responded to the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce’s priorities for the 2014 provincial election.

Initially released two weeks ago in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Election 2014: Business Priorities outlines the major challenges inhibiting economic success in the province and provides recommendations to all political parties.

Responses from the political parties to these recommendations can be read in the business groups’ updated election platform.

“Hamilton has demonstrated a remarkable economic revival over the last few years, with provincial policies and investments an important factor in our recovery” says Keanin Loomis, President & CEO of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. “All parties must be prepared to take the bold actions in fostering a conducive environment for the businesses in Hamilton as well as committing to key infrastructure investments in transit for Hamilton.”

“We’re a non-partisan organization, so we are not in a position to endorse a particular party platform,” says Allan O’Dette, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

“However, we can say that we are pleased to see that all parties have made commitments to address some of the key priorities in our platform” adds O’Dette.

“This provincial election comes at a critical time for Hamilton,” says Keanin Loomis, President & CEO of Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. “Our city is recovering, but growth is sluggish. More than ever, government has to ensure it is doing everything in its power to encourage investment and job creation in the province.”
