Call for Board of Directors – Lead the Future of Hamilton’s Business Community

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is committed to advancing Hamilton as Canada’s foremost business community for innovation, investment, and quality of life.

As we continue to implement our new Strategic Plan, we are seeking visionary leaders to join our 2026 Board of Directors and help guide our mission to advance member success, build community and leadership, and champion a competitive growth environment.

Applications are due Friday, December 12, 2025.

Interviews will be conducted in early January 2026.

About the Opportunity

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is the city’s voice of business, representing a dynamic network of organizations across every major sector of Hamilton’s economy. Our Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and leadership to ensure the Chamber continues to deliver strong advocacy, meaningful connections, and tangible value for members.

While all nominations are welcomed, the Chamber is particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Demonstrate leadership in business, civic, or community development;
  • Bring experience in finance, governance, or economic development;
  • Reflect Hamilton’s diversity of industries, backgrounds, and perspectives;
  • Have prior engagement with the Chamber Network at the local, provincial, or national level.

Roles & Responsibilities

Elected Directors serve for up to two consecutive two-year terms and are expected to:

  • Act in the best interests of the Chamber and its members, fulfilling fiduciary duties with integrity and accountability;
  • Attend and prepare for Board meetings (typically four per year) and Committee meetings (varies based on committee);
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning retreat and act as an ambassador for the Chamber at major events;
  • Contribute leadership and insight aligned with the Chamber’s strategic priorities:
    • Advancing Member Success
    • Building Community and Leadership
    • Championing a Competitive Growth Environment
    • Operational Excellence
  • Support the Chamber’s mission to strengthen Hamilton’s business climate and quality of life.

Eligibility

Nominees must be:

  • Members in good standing of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, or representatives of a member organization;
  • Passionate about Hamilton’s growth, inclusion, and prosperity;
  • Willing to dedicate the time, insight, and leadership required to strengthen the Chamber and its impact.
