2024 Applications Now Open for Annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards & Hamilton Citizen of the Year Award
The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the call is now open for nominations for its annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) & Hamilton Citizen of the Year Award.
Businesses may nominate themselves or another business at obaahcc.ca.
Applications close Friday, January 19, 2024.
The OBAA’s honour local businesses and organizations in Hamilton. Nominees are judged on the following criteria: goal planning and succession, overcoming challenges, business successes & past awards, how the organization gives back, and overall impact on the community.
There are 9 categories of awards up for grabs this year:
Small Business (1-10 employees) Award
Mid-Sized Business (11-50 employees) Award
Large Business (51+ employees) Award
Young Entrepreneur (Under 40) Award
Not-for-Profit Award
Century Award
IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility) Award
CEO of the Year Award
Hamilton Citizen of the Year

The Hamilton Citizen of the Year award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Hamilton community and who have brought outstanding and remarkable attention to the Hamilton community beyond our municipal borders. Last year’s notable winner was Carole MacVicar.
The 2024 OBAA winners will be celebrated at an in-person gala in the Spring of 2024 at Carmen’s Banquet Centre.
The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it is working with the Business + Higher Education Roundtable and the Government of Canada to support Hamilton employers connect with local student talent.
This project, Student Talent Connect, will be completed in partnership with McMaster University, Mohawk College, Redeemer University and Workforce Planning Hamilton.

HAMILTON, ON – Hamilton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Greg Dunnett announced today the appointment of two Vice-President roles.
As Vice-President of Advocacy & Operations, Drina Omazic will oversee day-to-day business operations at the Chamber, in addition to acting as the Chamber’s lead on government relations, political affairs, and policy.
As the Fall semester comes to a close, we are delighted to announce the successful completion of Mannat Kullar and Jessica Ho’s internship with our team. Over the past few months, these two talented fourth-year Communications students from McMaster University have made significant contributions to our workplace, infusing it with fresh perspectives, creative ideas, and a passion for marketing and communications.
