Chamber Member Joe Ng Honoured by Provincial Government
Hamilton entrepreneur, city builder and diversity leader Joe Ng is a newly-minted recipient of the Ontario Award for Leadership in Immigrant Employment.
Ng, founder and head of JNE Consulting Ltd., received his hardware during a special ceremony held at the 10th annual Ontario Economic Summit, November 6-8, 2013. The summit is an initiative of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce
Said Ng in an interview: “JNE, Hamilton’s largest engineering consulting firm, has become like the United Nations and that’s deeply satisfying.”
“Our first five award recipients are champions of immigrant success,” said Michael Coteau, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in a statement. “These outstanding winners recognize the benefits of hiring a diverse workforce. Their hiring practices, innovation and inclusive business cultures pave the way for greater economic growth in this province by connecting our labour force to the global community.”
Below are the words of commendation read in honour Mr. Ng:
Joseph Ng moved to Canada from China in 1968 to study electrical engineering at the University of New Brunswick and graduated in 1973. In 1980 he incorporated Joe Ng Engineering Limited in Hamilton. The company extended its reach to China shortly after its inception and in 1994 Joe Ng Engineering Limited reorganized to become JNE Consulting Limited, a full service, multidisciplinary engineering firm serving a wide range of industries. Today, his group of companies employs hundreds of professionals, many of whom are new Canadians. Hiring immigrants is a point of pride for Joe.
His contributions to Ontario’s globally-connected economy have been significant, and along the way enriched Hamilton’s local economy through the creation of jobs and the promotion of innovative practices. Joe recognizes the value of hiring a diverse workforce which benefits the lives of hundreds and all of those who have the privilege to work with him.
